Elements of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) will be conducting Exercise ‘ROGUE AMBUSH 2022-1 (RA22-1)’ over the period 21 November – 08 December 2022.

    The issue

    • Activation of multiple extant Shoalwater Bay Prohibited, Restricted and Danger (PRD) area
    • Promulgation of temporary restricted area (TRA): TRA-Ambush, and temporary danger area (TDA): TDA-Rocky
    • Diversion and civil routes

    Purpose

To seek member feedback on proposed temporary airspace changes supporting Exercise ROGUE AMBUSH 2022-1

    Proposal

Military fast jet aircraft will be operating out of RAAF Base Amberley and Rockhampton airport.

In the interest of public safety, segregated airspace is required to support this activity. This airspace will consist of existing Shoalwater Bay permanent restricted areas, and a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) with an underlying Temporary Danger Area (TDA). These areas will be activated for up to two x 3 hour windows daily during daylight hours (excluding weekends). Specific timings of expected airspace windows will be confirmed in AIP SUP and NOTAM.

The TRA and TDA are proposed as follows (see attachment 1):
