Black Sky Aerospace (BSA), a rocketry organisation is seeking to conduct rocket launching activities approximately 28 nautical miles (n mile) Northwest of Thargomindah, Queensland. Multiple windows are proposed in case of delays with the launching operations.

    The issue

To mitigate residual airspace risks posed by the activity, a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) is proposed from surface (SFC) to unlimited height (UNL) within all airspace classes.

Multiple rockets to be launched up to UNL for the following dates:

    • 23/01/2023 to 27/01/2023
    • 13/02/2023 to 19/02/2023

There will be 2 windows open for launching activities:

    • 08:00-09:00 Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) and 12:00-14:00 AEST

Launch windows to be cancelled when no longer in use or not activated if not required.

To seek feedback on the proposal to establish a TRA due to high level rocket launching activity.
