    The issue

The Tasmanian Hang Gliding and Paragliding (THPA) has been operating paragliders and hang gliders from Single Hill for over 15 years, utilising and exemption from CASA. The Instrument is due for renewal on 1 April 2024.

Licenced PG and HG pilots must complete both an online on-site induction to fly the site within a predetermined "box" on the North and South East faces of the hill, extending to 100m from shore and maximum altitude of 1000ft.

For each day of flying (VMC in daylight hours only) the Hobart Tower is notified by a Duty Pilot and operations are broadcast on the ATIS for HBA. All pilots maintain "See and Avoid" and are educated about wake turbulence issues.
