National - Identify which non charted ATS routes are in use
To seek members' feedback to identify which non charted ATS routes are in use.
The issue
Section 23 of the DAH contains non charted ATS routes to reduce chart clutter in circumstances where the ATS route is not used by the broader aviation community. An example of appropriate use of non charted ATS routes are the below for Defence tanker aircraft:
W946
W951
W952
W953
W954
These ATS routes also appear in Section 25 of the DAH under Refuelling Tracks.
There may also be legitimate reasons for civil operators or ATC to use non charted ATS routes to reduce workloads and simplify operations.
The OAR is seeking to determine which non charted ATS routes are operationally required. If no airspace user claims a non charted ATS route it will be removed from the DAH with effect 17 June 2021.
Airspace users must contact the OAR if they are using a non charted ATS route and provide a brief description of its purpose and frequency of use (under pre COVID circumstances). Please see attached paper for further information.
