Airservices Australia is modernising its aeronautical information and data products. This post is to notify AvSEF members of the changes which are intended to occur over four stages through to November 2023. Detailed information is available at Engage Airservices.
In order to modernise Airservices' aeronautical information and data products, Airservices is commencing a number of activities to change the way it produces and publishes the Australian Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), primarily through migration of the AIP to International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standard eAIP format and modernisation of the way they produce their aeronautical charts.
Modernisation of production and publishing processes is a key step in enhancing the way Airservices supports the aviation industry with information, data products and related services. Some key benefits include:
- Ability to provide a wider and more flexible range of aeronautical information and data products to support pilots, aircraft operators and the broader industry, including improving the ability for other key industry partners such as app developers to continue to innovate using aeronautical data from Airservices.
- Ability for Airservices to provide more timely updates to aeronautical data to improve consistency of information and distribution.
- Improving the level of digitisation of aeronautical data to promote a more dynamic and future oriented way of managing aeronautical data, which will provide broader air traffic management benefits.
- Greater consistency with standard ICAO eAIP format and charting standards to improve interoperability, readability and standardisation.
Please see the Engage Airservices website for detailed information and to ask any questions. You are encouraged to subscribe to the project updates on the website.
The AvSEF Secretariat will notify AvSEF members of any major updates on the project as they become available.
