National - Proposed change to Air Traffic operating procedure
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) seek feedback on a proposal to change air traffic operating procedures relating to arrestor cable and barriers at military airfields.
The issue
Currently, the Manual of Air Traffic Services (MATS) requires ATC state the condition of the arrestor cable and of the barrier for take off and landing. The standardisation group within the ADF ATC consider that the requirement to append the phrase 'cables and barriers down' to clearances as superfluous information and propose to change proedures as outlined in the attached paper.
