To seek members feedback on the three proposed Temporary Restricted Areas (TRA) ‘Shield-A’, ‘Shield-B’, and ‘Shield-C’ to support RAAF Exercise DIAMOND SHIELD 2022.

The issue

Elements of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and United States Air Force (USAF) will be conducting Exercise ‘DIAMOND SHIELD 2022 (DSD22)’ over the period 14 March – 01 April 2022. DSD22 is a wide area air defence activity with military aircraft operating out of RAAF Bases Williamtown and Amberley.

Access by non-exercise aircraft to Williamtown and Amberley aerodrome, CTR and restricted areas may be subject to delays.

Specific timings of PRD and TRA airspace activation windows will be confirmed in AIP SUP and NOTAM. It is expected that the DSD22 airspace will be activated during both day and night periods over 14 March – 01 April 2022, excluding weekends.

Please see the attached paper for further information on the proposed Temporary Restricted Areas (TRAs).
