The Bureau of Meteorology is advising that the Route Sector Wind and Temperature (RSWT) forecast product will be retired effective 1 June 2026.

    Purpose

The Bureau of Meteorology is advising that the Route Sector Wind and Temperature (RSWT) forecast product will be retired effective 1 June 2026. This change forms part of ongoing product rationalisation, reflecting both declining usage and the availability of alternative products that provide equivalent or enhanced functionality.

For users currently accessing RSWT through the Bureau of Meteorology web site, we recommend transition to the following alternatives:

    • Wind/Temperature Profile available via Airservices Australia (NAIPS)
    • Route Forecast (ROFORS)
    • Grid Point Wind and Temperature (GPWT).

These products provide comparable or improved wind and temperature forecast information and are supported through formal arrangements with aviation stakeholders.

    We kindly request that you:

    • Update your systems and procedures to reflect the cessation of RSWT from 1 June 2026
    • Remove references to RSWT where applicable
    • Familiarise yourself with the alternative products listed above.

Further formal advice will be issued via an Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) prior to the cessation date. A web banner has been added to the Bureau's web page for RSWT forecasts.

If you have any questions or require further information, please contact the Bureau of Meteorology's Aviation Customer Engagement team via email at webav@bom.gov.au.
