Carbonix is planning to conduct remotely piloted aircraft (RPAS) Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations in rural Qld.

    The issue

These operations will be conducted Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS). The aircraft will fly pre-planned survey tracks while remaining under continuous monitoring and control by the remote pilot. The remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) in use is the Carbonix Ottano Octo platform. The aircraft is a fixed-wing vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) RPA with:

    • Wingspan: approximately 6 metres
    • Cruise speed: approximately 55 knots
    • Typical flight profile: structured survey tracks across the designated survey area. The RPAS will operate (illustrated in map below):
      • Up to, but not above, 400ft AGL across most of the survey area
      • Up to, but not above, 1300 ft AGL across certain designated areas
      • Up to, but not above, 1700 ft AGL in limited areas where survey requirements require

    Purpose

Carbonix is planning to conduct remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) survey operations within the Surat Basin region of Queensland. The operations aim to capture aerial survey data across a large geographic area.

    Proposal

Large-area aerial data capture in support of infrastructure mapping survey within the Surat Basin region.

    Stakeholder Feedback:

This notice is intended to inform local airspace users and to invite feedback that may assist with safe and coordinated operations. Carbonix welcomes feedback regarding:

    • Local aviation activities in the area (e.g. aerial agriculture, mustering, charter, medical flights, training operations)
    • Seasonal or irregular aviation activity
    • Any other considerations that may assist with operational planning and deconfliction.
