    Joint Airspace Control Cell (JACC) requests feedback on proposed Temporary Restricted Airspace (TRA) in support of Exercise Crimson Dawn 24-1

    The issue

    • Activation of proposed TRA ‘PORCUPINE’ and TRA ‘COPPERFIELD’ to extend R737

    • TRA ‘COPPERFIELD’ dimensions support aircraft operating to Kidston (YKID)

    • No additional air routes are affected beyond those already affected by R737 activation

    • Airspace is designed to remain clear of air routes W387 and B587 • Conditional status of TRA will be RA2

    Purpose

    JACC requests feedback on proposed Temporary Restricted Airspace (TRA) in support of military Exercise Crimson Dawn 2024-1 (19 – 25 June 2024), to be employed west of RAAF Townsville, QLD.

    Elements of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) will be conducting exercise ‘CRIMSON DAWN 2024-1 over the period 19 – 25 June 2024. Fast jet aircraft will be operating out of RAAF Base Townsville.

    The intention is to activate Temporary Restricted Areas (TRA) to extend the western portion of R737B and R737D to facilitate fifth generation fast jet flying activities.
