To seek feedback on the proposal to establish a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) for non-commercial high-power rocket launching activity.

    The issue

To mitigate residual airspace risks posed by the activity, a TRA is proposed from surface (SFC) to unlimited (UNL) within all airspace classes with the controlling authority.
Proposed rocket launching activity over a period of 5 consecutive days between 15/07/2024 to 15/09/2024.
Further specific dates to be determined in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

    Purpose

The Victorian Rocketry Association (VRA), is seeking feedback on conducting a high-power rocket launch/s of non-commercial rockets to no more than 100,000ft approximately 28.5 nautical miles bearing 149 degrees from Menindee, NSW. Multiple windows are proposed in case of delays with the launching operations.

    Proposal

Proposal for a TRA over a 5 day period from 8 am to 6 pm. Within 14 n mile CIRCULAR RADIUS OF position 32° 46' 40"S 142°41' 55"E Tolarno Station Launch site Bearing 149 28.5 n mile from Menindee Airport (YMED).
As part of the procedures for the launch activity, contact will be made with Air Services at least 30 minutes before the flight of the rocket intended to be launched into controlled airspace. This will confirm the activation of the TRA and ensure no objection to the launch timing.
