The 37th World Gliding Championships (WGC) will take place from Narromine Aerodrome (YNRM), New South Wales (NSW) from 20 November 2023 to 15 December 2023.
Intensive gliding operations associated with the 37th WGC will take place from YNRM from 20 November 2023 to 15 December 2023. The event will involve up to 80 gliders and 10 tug aircraft. Gliders commence and finish tasks at YNRM and will conduct cross-country racing within a designated competition area.
A Temporary Danger Area (TDA) is proposed within 8 nautical miles (n mile) of YNRM up to 10,000 feet above mean sea level.
The competition area will be encompassed within extant Class G and Class E Airspace bounded by the following coordinates:
294500S 1460000E – 294500S 1500000E – 331757S 1500000E – 340000S 1492630E – 341500S 1482824E – 341500S 1460000E - 294500S 1460000E.
The Military Restricted Areas 559A-F currently depicted on the above maps will be cancelled and replace by other Restricted airspace on 30 November 2023.
Gliders and tug aircraft may frequently obstruct YNRM taxiways and runways during 37th WGC operations, in particular during the glider:
These periods will vary from day-to-day.
Participating aircraft will communicate on discrete frequencies during WGC operations. A traffic information overview about glider and tug activities in the vicinity of YNRM will be broadcast to non-participating aircraft on the Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) 126.700 MHz on receipt of calls on 126.700 relevant to YNRM. Relevant traffic information on non-participating aircraft will be broadcast to participating aircraft on discrete frequencies.
Gliders and tugs may make non-standard right turns after take-off and right circuit patterns for:
