    Purpose

A new Bureau of Meteorology website is scheduled to go live on Wednesday 22 October 2025.

The new website is secure, stable and resilient and it will help the Bureau to continue to deliver trusted services to all Australians, when it matters most.  It delivers design and functionality improvements to our most frequently used pages, including forecasts, observations and weather warnings. The new design will make it easier for the Australian community to access Bureau resources, data and services.

If you have not already explored the new website, we encourage you to do so: https://beta.bom.gov.au/

Go live may be rescheduled if Australia experiences significant weather in October.

    What's new for aviation users
    What to expect at launch

    There are no changes to:

The website will have a new home page, navigation and design.

The new website has our most-visited pages and content. We will gradually move specialist content from the ‘legacy’ website to the new website.

The web address for content that remains on the legacy website won't change (e.g. https://www.bom.gov.au/aviation/ ). Your saved bookmarks, shortcuts and favourites for those pages will keep working.

You will be able to use search to find new and legacy content.

We encourage you to review all links to bom.gov.au pages after launch to ensure they are providing the experience you expect. For example:

    • dashboards
    • any tools or apps using Bureau information and data
    • standard operating procedures and process documentation.

This is the start of improving our online services. Our new website enables us to plan and deliver future improvements for our partners, customers and community.

Please email the Bureau's aviation customer engagement team (webav@bom.gov.au) if you have any questions about the new website.
