Defence proposes to amend R586C to be split horizontally into two portions of airspace overhead of Port Macquarie (YPMQ) (S31 20.0).
The issue
• Change will facilitate arrivals and departures into YPMQ (Air Services Feedback)
• No plan to change upper or lower limits of the airspace
• There will be no change to the level of service provided by ATC
Purpose
The National Airspace Management Office requests feedback on a Williamtown ATC proposal to subdivide R586C into two portions at YPMQ (a Northern and Southern airspace split along the S31 20.0)
Proposal
Defence is proposing to amend the airspace (R586C) into two different portions of airspace (split at the S31 20.0) to facilitate civilian arrivals and departures into Port Macquarie. This will give Defence the ability to activate both or one portion of airspace at any time to facilitate military flying requirements.
This airspace will remain classified as RA2 and the change is expected to be largely transparent to industry.
