Airservices Australia is proposing to extend the temporary amendment of control tower hours at Albury Airport, for an additional 90 days.
Airservices Australia is proposing to extend the temporary amendment of control tower hours at Albury Airport, for an additional 90 days. This adjustment is a response to ongoing operational resource constraints and is designed to ensure the continued safety, efficiency, and predictability of air traffic services.
This post is to notify AvSEF members of the proposed temporary changes to tower hours at Albury Airport.
The proposed hours ensure safe, efficient, and predictable air traffic services at Albury while we continue our training efforts, with a return to ERSA hours expected from early 2025.
While this extension will delay the return to ERSA hours until early next year, we now have the staffing resources to reinstate service on Sundays, starting from October 20 2024, from 11:00 - 17:00 local time.
We propose to amend tower hours as detailed in the table below, effective until 15 January 2025:
ERSA (local) | Current (local) | Proposed (local) | ||||
Day(s) | Start | End | Start | End | Start | End |
Monday – Friday | 0615 | 2030 | 0900 | 1800 | 0900 | 1800 |
Saturday | 0900 | 1700 | 0900 | 1700 | 0900 | 1700 |
Sunday | 0900 | 2030 | Closed | 1100 | 1700 |
Please note, Albury Class C and D airspace 8,500 feet above mean sea level and below becomes Class G outside tower hours.
CASA has requested us to highlight the importance that all pilots are familiar and operate in accordance with the new flight operations regulations described within Part 91. These include:
