To engage with New South Wales (NSW) air operators for feedback regarding beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) drone operations along the NSW coastline and up to 12 nautical miles (n mile) offshore.
The Department of Regional NSW will be conducting aerial operations utilising UAS along the NSW coastline and up to 12 n mile offshore.
The Department of Regional NSW aims to conduct aerial survey and monitoring utilising UAS, operating predominantly over water along the NSW Coastline and up 12 n mile offshore.
In accordance with CASA approval, deconfliction requirements will be adhered to, including the use of NOTAMs, monitoring of the relevant aviation radio frequencies, and, if required, the use of electronic conspicuity devices.
This information is provided as part of the initial Stakeholder Engagement Plan, to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to raise any safety concerns on the information provided. Additional stakeholder engagement will be conducted with air operators more directly affected by this operation.
There is no intent to operate within 3 n mile of any aerodrome or in controlled airspace. As such the operations area has been designed to exclude; any airspace other than class G (up to 1000 feet above mean sea level), any area within 3 n mile of any aerodrome on the coastline and, any approach and departure path up to 8 kilometres from any aerodrome on the coastline that would be in the operational area.
