Gliding Federation of Australia - Queensland Airspace is seeking feedback to change Nanango’s Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) to match the Kingaroy CTAF.

    The issue

The Kingaroy and Nanango CTAF have a significant overlap resulting in aircraft operating in close proximity but on different CTAF frequencies

    Purpose

To improve safety operations in the Kingaroy and Nanango CTAF area.

    Proposal

    • It is proposed to change the Nanango CTAF frequency to 127.45 to match the Kingaroy CTAF.
    • To date there have been a number of reported incidents of aircraft in close proximity on different CTAF frequencies.
      • Previous consultation with local operators including Royal Flying Doctor Services (RFDS) and Flight Training Adelaide has resulted in positive feedback and support for this change.
