    To consult aviation stakeholders across the Melbourne Basin regarding potential changes to controlled airspace boundaries being developed to support the introduction of Melbourne Airport’s third runway (Runway 16R/34L) and understand any impact on current operating conditions.

    Proposal

    To enable independent parallel runway operations at Melbourne Airport, changes are required to controlled airspace north and south of Melbourne to contain suitable instrument approaches.

    Timeline

    • Melbourne’s new third runway is expected to come online in 2031. For this round of engagement on proposed changes to controlled airspace, feedback is open until 12 December 2025.
