A Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) is being proposed to support the Number 1 Recruit Training Unit (1RTU) graduation ceremony in Wagga Wagga.

    The issue

    Points for consideration include:
    1. Lateral and vertical dimensions of the TRA
    2. date/time (duration) of the TRA.

    Purpose

In support of Number 1 Recruit Training Unit graduation ceremony on the 29 March 2023, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) 100SQN plan to conduct flypast and aerial display activity overhead Wagga Wagga Regional Airport (YSWG).

The flypast and aerial display is to be conducted by a classic RAAF aircraft (TBD). Due to the planned flight profile affecting speed and manoeuvrability of 100SQN aircraft, together with limitations on cockpit visibility (field of view), a TRA is requested to segregate this activity from civil operations and ensure public safety.

    Proposed TRA:

    • TRA-Wagga CONDITIONAL STATUS: RA2
    • MILITARY FLYING
    • LATERAL LIMITS: A circle radius 5.00NM centre 350957S 1472808E (WG/DME).
    • VERTICAL LIMITS: SFC - 4000
    • HOURS OF ACTIVITY: NOTAM
    • CONTROLLING AUTHORITY: RAAF - 100SQN
    • Hours of activity: It is proposed that the TRA be active for no more than 30 minutes within a window commencing UTC 2303282300 through to 2303290000Z (Wednesday 1000-1100h local 29 March 2023). Exact timing TBC via NOTAM.
    • Non-participant access: Access to the TRA by non-participants should not be expected unless operating in the support of:
      • preservation of life or property (MEDEVAC, FFR, POL, SAR), or
      • a declared emergency.
