In support of the Newcastle Williamtown Airshow 2023 (NWAS23), multiple aircraft plan to conduct flypasts and aerial display activities on 18 November 2023.
Points for consideration include:
A TRA is being proposed to support the NWAS23, 18 November 2023.
The Royal Australian Air Force will conduct the NWAS23 on 18 and 19 November 2023. In conjunction, military aircraft will conduct flying displays and manoeuvres adjacent to Nobbys Beach which is located on the boundary of controlled airspace and Class G airspace, on 18 November 2023 only. A TRA is required to ensure the safe execution of the events and relieve display pilots of any unnecessary traffic avoidance tasks.
Proposed TRA: YBBB/TRA 'NOBBYS'
Anticipated activation is for up to 6 hours on 18 November 2023 between 0930 - 1600 local, likely in two 2-3 hour periods. Final timings to be promulgated via NOTAM. An Aeronautical information package supplement (AIP SUP) will be published in support of NWAS23, describing the affected air routes and access procedures.
Class C services will be provided within TRA by 453 SQN WLM FLT ATC, along with tactical management of affected air routes diversion. Aircraft with a declared emergency, radio failure or participating in activities for the preservation of life or property (SAR, MED, POL, or FFR) will be afforded priority access to the TRA in accordance with AIP ENR 1.4 para 10.
