Airspace and associated Air Traffic Services (ATS) proposed to protect airspace users due to tactical unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) operations from Truscott-Mungalalu (YTST).

    The issue

    • Airspace and associated procedures as per previous military activities from December 2023.
    • Feedback sought on potential impacts from the temporary airspace and any improvements to the procedures.

    Purpose

Establish temporary airspace and provide Class D ATS in support of Defence activities from YTST.

    • The proposed temporary airspace is to support experimental UAS operations from YTST. ATS will be provided and will have a close link with the UAS operator to ensure its safe operation in the vicinity of the YTST and surrounding airspace.
    • The airspace request is intended to replicate the airspace requested in support of other activities conducted, via a different platform, in early 2024. The intent is to safely facilitate civil flying operations and deconflict with operations of the experimental UAS tasked to conduct operations from YTST. 452SQN Mobile Air Operations Team (MAOT) shall provide ATS to ensure access to civil aircraft.
