Rocket launches are proposed at Tolarno Station to approximately 110,000 feet.
Rocket launches up to approximately 110,000 feet are proposed from 24 April 2025 to 27 April 2025.
A Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) is proposed from the Controlling Authority.
To seek feedback on the proposed TRA for high-power rocket launching activity.
Rocket launches are proposed for Tolarno Station, which is approximately 28.5 nautical miles from Menindee Aerodrome (YMED) at a bearing of 149 degrees. Up to 4 launches will occur between 24 April 2025 and 27 April 2025 to approximately 110,000 feet.
Aviation State Engagement Forum members should check NOTAMs closer to the date to confirm whether the activity will proceed.
The proponent is in the process of conducting a consultation regarding the activity with known airspace users, such as:
The rockets will be launched separately in launch windows between 0800 – 1700 local time (Australian Eastern Standard Time (UTC + 10)). The multiple windows are due to potential preparation delays and adverse weather conditions.
As part of the procedures for the launch activity, contact will be made with Airservices at least 30 minutes before the rocket's launch if intended to be launched into controlled airspace. This will confirm activation of the TRA and ensure no objection to the launch timing.
Additionally, Class G Airspace will be monitored for aircraft before and during the launch activities. This will include maintaining a visual watch of the airspace, as well as monitoring Very High Frequency (VHF) radio transmissions and Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B) activity in the area.
To mitigate residual airspace risks posed by the activity, a TRA is proposed from surface (SFC) to Flight Level (FL) 125 within Class G airspace, and from FL125 to the maximum altitude in the controlled airspace above.
