Proposed temporary restricted airspace surrounding future Western Sydney International (WSI).

    The issue

The proposal is to establish temporary restricted airspace within D556A and D556B in the vicinity of the future WSI on 2 October 2024 from 12:00pm to 23:59pm. The temporary restriction is proposed in order to safely segregate pilots ordinarily undertaking flight training from the pilot undertaking the flight check.

    Purpose

Establish proposed temporary restricted airspace in the vicinity of the future WSI in order to safely undertake a flight check for the commissioning of the aerodrome lighting system.

    Proposal

The temporary restriction will mitigate the risk of pilots inadvertently landing at WSI following removal of the unserviceability markers to enable the flight check to be completed.

The proposed extent of the temporary restricted airspace is the area starting at 335320S 1503637E – 334842S 1504609E then along the clockwise arc of a circle radius 2.3 nautical miles (n mile) centred on 335041S 1504733E – 335240S 1504857S – 335710S 1503924E, then along the clockwise arc of a circle radius 2.3 n mile centre 335520S 1503800E– 335320S 1503637E to an altitude of 2000 feet above mean sea level, as depicted in the below marked-up visual terminal chart (VTC).
