A Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) is proposed for Shellharbour Airport for the annual Wings Over Shellharbour Airshow from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th May 2026.

    The issue

The proposed TRA will extend 5 nautical miles (NM) out from Shellharbour Airport, over land only, excluding Bass Point, from ground level to 8500' (excluding controlled airspace)

The TRA will only be active during practice and display times which are as follows:

    • Practice Friday 15th May 2026, 1230-1630 local time.
    • Displays Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May 2026, 1000-1630 local time.
    • A Unicom will operate on the Shellharbour Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) 127.3 when the TRA is active, as well as before and after the proposed times to assist in traffic separation. Priority will be given to any Med/RPT flights.

    Purpose

A TRA is proposed for Shellharbour Airport for the annual Wings Over Shellharbour Airshow (previously known as Airshows Downunder Shellharbour and Wings Over Illawarra).

This TRA will ensure the safe separation of any display aircraft from any transiting/local traffic. The TRA will only be in place during practice and display times. A Unicom will be operated on the CTAF throughout all times the TRA is in place.
