Beyond The Blue Aerospace (BTBA), a rocketry organisation, is seeking to conduct rocket launching activity approximately 40 nautical mile (n mile) North West of Goondiwindi, Qld from 14 - 16 September 2022.
The issue
- Rocket launching activity from 14 – 16 September 2022
- Two Temporary Restricted Areas (TRAs) proposed with separate Controlling Authorities
Purpose
To seek members feedback on the proposal to establish two TRAs due to high level rocket launching activity
A preliminary consultation regarding the activity with known airspace users and other stakeholders has already been conducted. Rocket launches from this location have been consulted with members many times previously.
Multiple rocket launches to an apogee of FL250 are proposed in launch windows from 0800 – 0900 and 1200 – 1300 (local) on each day, 14 – 16 September 2022. The multiple windows are sought in case of possible flight delays.
As part of procedures at this site, contact is made with Airservices at least 30 minutes prior to the first flight of a rocket intended to be launched into controlled airspace to confirm activation of the TRA and that no objection to the timing of the launch exists.
PROPOSAL
To mitigate residual airspace risks posed by the activity, a TRA is proposed from SFC to FL125 within Class G airspace and another from FL125 to FL250 in the controlled airspace above.
