Royal Australian Air Force - Roulettes
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Roulettes are planning a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) over the Brisbane Showgrounds (Bowen Hills) on Wednesday 12 August 2026.
The issue
For safety of flight, the temporary restricted area (TRA) is being proposed over Bowen Hills due to a Roulettes Low Level Aerobatic Display being held on 12 August 2026 in support of the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka).
Department of Defence requests feedback on this proposal from local area stakeholders including Brisbane and Archerfield Airport operators. A TRA will be established around the Brisbane showgrounds and active for up to 25 minutes to facilitate the display at around 12:15pm local time (check NOTAMs for final timings).
Purpose

Proposal
For safety of flight, the temporary restricted area (TRA) is being proposed over Bowen Hills due to a Roulettes Low Level Aerobatic Display being held on 12 August 2026 in support of the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka). Location Centre: 27ᵒ27’01”S 153ᵒ02’05”E (Brisbane Showgrounds, Bowen Hills, QLD).
Dimensions: Surface (SFC) – A060 (upper display limit A050) within 5 nautical miles (nm) centre point when outside controlled airspace (OCTA) and within 3nm of centre point within controlled airspace (CTA).
Aircraft: 6 x PC-21.
Operations within CTA for Brisbane Airport (YBBN) and Archerfield Airport (YBAF) will be affected including traffic in the UNIVAT visual flight rules (VFR) route. The TRA will be controlled by AirServices Australia and will be included in the NOTAM for the area.
