Royal Australian Air Force
The RAAF Roulettes will be establishing a TRA over the Hobart Cenotaph, Queens Domain in support of the Battle of Britain Commemorations 2026.
Purpose
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Roulettes will be establishing a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) over the Hobart Cenotaph, Queens Domain on Sunday, 13 September 2026 in support of the Battle of Britain Commemorations 2026.
Proposal
For safety of flight, the (TRA) is being proposed over the Hobart Cenotaph, Queens Domain due to a Roulettes low-level aerobatic display being held on 13 September 2026 in support of the Battle of Britain Commemorations 2026.
Department of Defence requests feedback on this proposal from local area stakeholders including Hobart, Cambridge, Royal Hobart Hospital, and Rokeby Police Academy Airports and their operators. A TRA will be established around the Hobart Cenotaph and active for up to 45 minutes to facilitate a flypast and display between 11:15am and 12:00pm local time (check NOTAMs for final timings).
Location Centre: 42ᵒ52'40"S 147ᵒ20'12"E (HOBART CENOTAPH, QUEENS DOMAIN, TAS)
Dimensions: Surface (SFC) – A060 (upper display limit A050) within 5 nautical miles (n miles) centre point, excluding coincident portion of controlled airspace. Aircraft: 2 x PC-21.
Controlled airspace to the east will remain under Airservices Australia control (YMHB). Roulette operations are anticipated to include use of the Hobart controlled airspace (CTA), restricted to the West of the Meehan Ranges, as coordinated with Hobart air traffic control (ATC) on the day and will be managed accordingly to achieve safe and efficient traffic separation and flow. The portion outside controlled airspace within the TRA will be for exclusive RAAF use under the control of Department of Defence.
Hobart arrivals and departures within control areas are not expected to be significantly delayed unless due operational reasons, however, the TRA may have implications on aviation operations west of the Meehan Ranges and a portion of D316, including the VFR corridors VICTOR WEST and VICTOR SOUTHWEST.
