Skydive Port Macquarie (SPMQ) is drafting a cloud jump manual to permit continued parachuting operations when the drop zone is not completely clear of cloud, subject to Australian Parachute Federation (APF) approval.

    The issue

SPMQ intends to obtain a cloud jump manual and conduct cloud jump operations at Port Macquarie Airport, using various types of aircraft.

    Purpose

SPMQ is in the process of drafting a cloud jump manual and submitting it to the APF. A requirement of the application is to notify airspace users of SPMQ's proposed operations and intentions.

The proposed cloud jump manual will to allow parachute operations to continue when the drop zone is not completely clear of cloud. Operations will include tandem parachute jumps, as well as sport skydiving jumps up to 15,000 feet. Operations will be carried out in accordance with APF and Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) rules and regulations, as well as SPMQ operations manuals.
