This advisory regards the change of launch window from 30 March - 3 April '26 to 18-22 May '26 to support Sunburnt Space Co launch activities.
A Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) extending radially 16 n mile from 30.6538S 143.2287E (30°39'13.7"S 143°13'43.3"E) with vertical limits from surface (SFC) to Unlimited (UNL) will be established on 18 May 2026, 19 May 2026, 20 May 2026, 21 May 2026, and 22 May 2026.
TRA activation timing:
Aviation State Engagement Forum (AvSEF) members should check Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) closer to the date to confirm whether the activity is proceeding.
The proponent is in the process of conducting a consultation regarding the activity with known airspace users such as commercial airlines and other stakeholders. The sounding rockets are intended to be launched on 18 May 2026, 19 May 2026, and 20 May 2026 with the remaining two dates being weather contingencies.
In addition to this, Class G Airspace will be monitored for aircraft before and during the launch activities. This will include maintaining a visual watch of the airspace, monitoring very high frequency (VHF) radio transmissions, and finally monitoring automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) transmissions from the area.
Please note that the TRA dimensions mentioned in this consultation are estimates and are subject to change (refer NOTAMs for final dimensions).
