A varied Class C/D service is unnecessarily complex and is causing delays.

    The issue

East Sale Air Traffic Control (ATC) currently provide a Class C service to civilian aircraft in East sale airspace; however this level of service is not conducive to the type of military operations that are conducted within.

Consequently, East Sale ATC provide a Class D service to military operators.

A varied Class C/D service is problematic and is the main source of delays to both civilian and military operators. Providing a Class D service to all users would alleviate delays and resolve complexity issues.

    Purpose

The intent of this consultation is to advise that the air traffic service provision in East Sale restricted areas R360A-F, R361 and military operating areas M301A/B will be changing from Class C to Class D. The East Sale control zone (CTR) will also be disestablished. All restricted areas will remain classified as RA2.

    Proposal

East Sale ATC will provide a Class D air traffic service in R360 A-F, R361 and MOA301 A/B, and the East Sale CTR will be disestablished.
